Dear Annie,

WE ARE FIVE!

I can't believe that it's five years since we opened the doors of Annie's Books on Peregian on 22nd August 2008. As in all areas of business, particularly retail, there have been some very tough times, but as always, my fantastic community of Peregian Beach has carried me through by choosing to purchase books from me, or just coming in to let me know that they appreciate having me here in the Village. There are many Annie's Books supporters outside the Village too, some as far afield as the USA and Germany. Thank you all for helping me to continue the dream! Of course I could not have survived without my trusty (and much loved) sidekick Lyn and the brilliantly colourful Palmira.

There's so much happening in the literary world at the moment. I recently joined the Reality Bites team as book seller for their 2013 non-fiction festival. The main venue was the magnificent Cooroy Library, where vibrant, exciting and sometimes controversial conversation was held between a very interesting mix of authors. Get yourself on their mailing list now, and don't miss out on a great experience next year. www.realitybitesfestival.org

In the next few weeks Noosa Library is holding a literary lunch with actor Steve Bisley and an evening with crime author Pat Noad. The Noosa Jazz Festival is featuring a lunch with Monica Trapaga and some hilarity with Catherine Deveny. I'll be at all of these !!

Oh, and don't forget dear old Dad! Father's Day is Sunday 1st September, and there are loads of new titles - we're bound to find something that is just perfect for the man in your life.

Happy reading,

from Annie & Lyn

PAT NOAD - DISHES THE DIRT ON CRIME WRITING

Pat Noad

Pat Noad's series of mystery novels featuring Annie Bryce are all set in different parts of Queensland. They have attracted a large, keen readership of those who love a good plot and great characters, but who don't really go for the detectives or the gory, evil themes which are often found in many books of the genre. Pat finds that some of the best crime stories are to be found within a family! Passions run high, secrets are kept and pacts are made - recipes for disaster; and weaving her way through all five of Pat's novels so far, is freelance journalist Annie Bryce who has a nose for trouble.
