Greetings!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I want to convey my heartfelt thanks to my friends and customers who have chosen to support Annie's Books so enthusiastically for another year, enabling me to continue to live the dream of running a small but energetic bookshop at beautiful Peregian Beach Village. I hope that 2012 brings health and happiness and a lot of good reading to you all.

Christmas trading was hectic (thank goodness!), but there was a record number of excellent books available, so I was not too surprised that books were a very popular choice once again. My bestselling title was the book I enjoyed most during 2011; The Cat's Table by Michael Ondaatje. Other very vigorous sellers were the Steve Jobs biography, Foal's Bread, The Dovekeepers and the gorgeous publication Unlikely Friendships - I hope every household now has one of those!

You'll be pleased to see best buddy and bookseller Lyn back from her jaunt across the planet. Lyn has been to London, Paris, Barcelona and Bali, and has had a marvellous time, but I know will be happy to be back in Peregian Beach. Thanks to Palmira for taking up the baton at such a busy time of year - she's a champion!

Happy reading,

from Annie & Lyn

EVENTS

S. SEAN TRETHEWAY - BEYOND THE ROAD

Sean Tretheway

What a way to start our events calendar!

Many of you will remember the book launch for The Roadless Traveller a few years ago - what a party! Well, S. Sean (the magician) Tretheway, has done it again. Sean, and we, at Annie's Books, are celebrating the launch of Beyond the Road, which carries on the story of Jack Slack, Blazer and Hollie as they adventure across the Pacific Ocean to find tropical paradise and more!

Dare I say that Sean has created a book even more fun than the last! It's exciting, sexy and inspiring - a book in which we will probably all find something a little different hidden in the pages. As we also love the folk at Trio's on the River, and they love Sean, we have decided to party together to celebrate this event. Come along for a fun couple of hours and enjoy some insights from the author, along with some music and a little magic.

Beyond The RoadAlthough this is a free event, we would appreciate a show of interest. Please let us know if you are planning on partying with us - anniesbooks@bigpond.com or 5448 20533.

LOANI PRIOR - QUEEN OF THE TEA COSIES

Another amazingly talented friend is Loani Prior, who started a phenomenon when she publisher her first book Wild Tea Cosies in 2008. Loani achieved further success with Really Wild Tea Cosies, and, you heard it first here - Loani's third book How Tea Cosies Changed the World is being released in April. We will certainly be celebrating the release of the book, but right now, here is a rare opportunity to learn the art of the tea cosy from the Queen of Tea Cosies herself. TONI POWELL

Toni Powell

A few years ago I was very happy and fortunate to become a friend of the impressive Toni Powell, who masterminded and created the Heart of Gold Film Festival, among other things. These days Toni is running extraordinary life classes which she has tagged The 30 Day Gratitude Challenge. www.30daygratitudechallenge.com

These classes are personal, inspiring and motivating, offering a simple and enjoyable way to enhance and improve our lives on all levels. Have a look at the website for details and read about Toni and her background. There is a class scheduled for Saturday January 14th at Buderim which still has availability. I am going, as I am intrigued and excited. What a way to begin the New Year!
