Dear Annie,

If I didn't love my little bookshop and Peregian Beach as much as I do, I could easily move to Africa, the place of my dreams, where I visited in 2010. As all who journey to Africa say, once you've visited the Dark Continent, you simply must return. I've decided to go again, and whilst telling people about my plan to visit Zimbabwe, most were concerned for my safety or could not understand why I would want to visit such a corrupt country. When I visited previously, my safety was never an issue, and we found the people so happy, friendly and keen for us to love their country. John Cooper, who my friends and I toured with, is coming to Peregian to speak about Zimbabwe and the state of the nation. It will be very interesting and surprising.

We have some other exciting events coming up - book now and don't miss out!

Happy reading,

from Annie & Lyn

AFRICAN INFORMATION EVENT
Zimbabwe; Lionesses; Sikumi Tree Lodge
Zimbabwe; Lionesses; Sikumi Tree Lodge

In  2010 I had a life changing trip to Africa, where four friends and I spent four weeks on the road with John Cooper from African Adventures Safari Company. We were so privileged to have our own guide in John, a man who has encyclopaedic knowledge about all things African, and whose particular area of expertise (and passion) is Zimbabwe. I have decided to go with John to Zimbabwe in July, and together we have planned a sensational itinerary which covers northern Zimbabwe, including Mana Pools and Lake Kariba, with an emphasis on wilderness and wildlife. John is the first to acknowledge the disastrous history of Zimbabwe, and the horrific trials and tribulations that the population has had to endure. Tourism is helping the country get back on to its feet to some extent, and it is recognised that wildlife tourism helps not only the country's economy, but its endangered wildlife as well. In the week or so we spent in Zimbabwe previously, there was not one moment where we felt that we were in any danger, and indeed, we were all amazed and surprised by this beautiful African country.

Come and chat to John about our safari in July (we have five spaces available) and find out first-hand about the wonderland of Zimbabwe. I have an email version of the itinerary if you are interested.

Susanna de Vries has written many best-selling books on the histories of famous and infamous women - it is truly her area of expertise. Susanna has threatened that her new book ROYAL MISTRESSES OF THE HOUSE OF HANOVER-WINDSOR will be her last, so don't miss the opportunity to meet one of Australia's most prolific and respected writers of history, here in Peregian Beach. ROYAL MISTRESSES is a fascinating romp through the sex lives of kings and princes of Great Britain for the past 300 years, from Lily Langtree, Lady Jennie Churchill and Wallis Simpson, to Camilla Parker-Bowles who got to marry her prince.
