The first months of 2014 have flown past, and it's almost Easter. We've been busy as usual with guests visiting the footpath - SUZANNA FISHER, ROB MUNDLE and SHELLEY DAVIDOW. We have some very exciting guests coming over the next few months, so keep an eye on our website and the Facebook page...

Happy reading,

from Annie, Rachel, Palmira & Lyn

NEWS

Rachel
Rachel
IN THE SHOP

Visitors to the shop will see a difference. Lyn is studying this year, so is not working regularly (although we hope to lure her in now and then), but you will find Rachel Burgoine in her place. Rachel is my very close friend in life and books (and Africa).

She has great literary experience from her many years at the Written Dimension Bookshop in Noosa Junction, and a lifetime of reading, and I can't say how thrilled I am to now have her in my little shop!

Lyn
Lyn
Palmira and I will still be here as usual. I'd like this opportunity to thank Lyn for her great contribution to Annie's Books from opening day to now. She's been a great friend and a treasured part of my beloved little business.

Thanks Lynnie!

FACEBOOK

Facebook

My friend Maria Suarez (or the Facebook Queen) has got me travelling comfortably down the Facebook road, and I am surprised, but very pleased, to see this new technology working for this "old dog". I don't embrace technology easily, but Maria has made this simple and (dare I say) enjoyable, and after almost one year, I can see that it has contributed to the business and of course I should have done it earlier! Local small business owners could benefit from chatting with Maria about social media for their business. www.mariasuarezmarketing.com

ADELAIDE WRITERS' WEEK

Hannah Kent
Hannah Kent with Annie
I had a marvellous time in Adelaide at the Writers' Week. It was possibly the best literary experience I have had to date. The list of authors I enjoyed seeing is too long for this newsletter, but suffice to say that I listened to and met some of the best - Australian and international.

Just a few: Margaret Drabble, Jung Chang, David Vann, Elizabeth Gilbert, Hannah Kent (pictured), Eleanor Catton, Richard Flanagan, Lloyd Jones etc. etc....... My "to read" pile has grown considerably!

EVENTS

PHILLIP HULME - Cancer Defeated

Cancer Defeated

Phillip Hulme is a triple cancer survivor. In 2007 he was diagnosed with throat, bowel and kidney cancer. Against all the advice of his doctors, he refused all chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and is now completely healed. Phillip lives locally, and runs cancer health conferences, cancer support groups and teaches "The Keys to Self-Healing". Those keys are, in short, self-empowerment, ability to find deep peace, and an understanding of the causes of cancer.

Phillip will be sitting in the author's seat on the footpath, and is happy to chat with you. Books are available for sale now.

T.M. CLARK - My Brother but One: An Epic Saga exploring the violence and Traditions of Rural Africa

T M Clark

Set against the magnificent backdrop of Zimbabwe across the decades, this epic saga explores the traditions and violence between the white and black families of rural Africa.

Australian readers have had a long love affair with the African setting, thanks in a large part to Wilbur Smith and his wonderful novels, and current authors such as Tony Park who says "You can smell the dust of Africa, feel her pain, and marvel at her incredible beauty in this sprawling tale." Enjoy an evening with T.M. Clark and the Friends of Noosa Library - I wouldn't miss it!
