Annie with Leunig cartoon

We are sorry to say we won't be drinking tea and eating cake this year for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea on 22nd May as previously advertised, but we will be having a fantastic raffle as always, and this year will be holding a silent auction for three valuable works of art - details below. We hope to raise a good sum of money once again, 100% of which will go directly to the Australia Cancer Council whose work is known to everyone.

EVENTS

VANESSA BUSHELL - Don't Tell Me To Get Over It!

Vanessa Bushell

VANESSA BUSHELL is a local psychologist who has published a brand new book called Don't Tell Me To Get Over It! We are celebrating the launch of Vanessa's book with a glass of wine and some nibbles on the footpath at Annie's Books.  These free of charge footpath events have been embraced and supported by the local Peregian Beach community and many from further afield, as it is a very informal way to meet and chat with the author as well as hearing about their journey through writing and publication.

As women, we have often experienced having our emotions minimized or dismissed at some point in our lives. If this happens, especially when we feel passionate about an issue, this leaves us feeling irrelevant, insignificant and worthless. However, this can be overcome by learning to honour our emotions. Vanessa's passion is to help women to develop a better relationship with their emotional selves through teaching them how to honour their feelings rather than suppressing, avoiding or becoming overwhelmed by them. "Don't Tell Me To Get Over It" opens doors for women who are in the process of personal development and inner growth.

This book shares five women's journeys through abandonment, self-devaluing, generational grief, self-righteousness and shame and how each of them discovered the awareness and strategies to overcome their psychological patterns. If you want to gain inner peace, emotional balance and awareness of your emotional self, then this book is for you.
