A quality picture book for three to six year olds by
Dr Rosemary Selkirk which addresses childhood fears, such as the fear of monsters, by illustrating the role of the imagination. Dr Rosemary Selkirk is an Australian-based health professional. Rosemary is trained as a Psychologist and has practices located in South Melbourne, Victoria.

GRAEME BASE

The Last King of Angkor Wat Grame Base

Tiger, Gibbon, Water Buffalo and Gecko race from the jumbled ruins of ancient Angkor Wat to the top of a distant hill, each hoping to prove they are most worthy of the title of king. Many admirable qualities are on show - strength, compassion, perseverance and bravery - but also failings... Which of them would be the best ruler?

Graeme Base is one of the world's leading creators of picture books. His alphabet book, Animalia, received international acclaim when it was first published in 1986 and has since achieved classic status with worldwide sales of over three million copies.

Other favourites by Graeme Base include The Eleventh

Hour, The Sign of the Seahorse, The Discovery of

Dragons, The Waterhole, TruckDogs, Jungle Drums,

Uno's Garden, Enigma, The Legend of the Golden

Snail, The Jewel Fish of Karnak and, most recently, the warm-hearted, magical Little Elephants. Graeme lives in Melbourne, with his artist wife, Rob.

Graeme will be in conversation with our friend Annie Gaffney from ABC Coast FM Radio.

If you can't get to the event, we are happy to organise signed copies of the new book or any of Graeme's backlist. Just give us a ring.

International Author, songwriter and life coach, Sandi Allan shares her story of going overseas to live her dream - The Bali Paradise lifestyle... until it was shattered by a terrifying course of events.   This book is a warning for all women about the minefield of another country's overwhelming cultural and legal differences. PHIL JARRATT

Bali Heaven and Hell Phil Jarratt

Despite its many social and environmental problems, Bali remains a popular holiday destination for Australians and people from around the world. The island represents many different things - for young people it might be their first trip overseas; for some it is a spiritual destination; for some a place to go for sun, sex and cheap booze; for some a luxurious high end experience; for others a profitable business opportunity. Bali has an enduring appeal with many making regular pilgrimages despite its dark and dangerous underbelly. It is a place that both appeals and repels.

Award winning author Phil Jarratt has had an association with the island for over more than 40 years. In Bali: Heaven and Hell, he takes readers on a fascinating and personal journey into another time and place, exploring the island's tumultuous and often violent past, its mythology, religion and politics, and the last 50 years of western colonization and modern envelopment.

We all know Phil Jarratt well for his string of surf books and his lifelong involvement in Australian surfing. Join us for some fabulous Zachary's pizza, along with wise words from Phil and even some Bali film footage.
